There's many, many people in our community who quietly chip away at projects and causes - they don't ask for recognition.
Quite often, they do it simply because it has to be done, or they know that if they don't do it, no one else will.
The publicity isn't something they want, but at the same time - it's a chance for what these unsung heroes do to be praised.
It's also a chance for them to talk about it because so often, talking about what they do can attract more people to make it easier or potentially more resources to get it done.
While these unsung heroes help out where they can getting a bit of extra help by talking about what they do is sometimes the best reward.
The nomination forms are all found online at Griffith City Council's website and need to be returned by December 9.
Right now, Australia Day in January feels a long way away but it will be here in the blink of an eye.
