"It was caught with a mammogram, she would've had no idea otherwise," Ms Zandona said.
"The cancer was so small it couldn't be felt, it was only the size of half a finger nail and they were able to pick it up on a mammogram."
This October, Ms Zandona along with dozens of Griffith businesses are participating in the Pink Up Your Town campaign from the McGrath Foundation to raise awareness of breast cancer. Due to COVID however, the fundraiser will be held online through a donations page and Griffith businesses are invited to 'Pink Up' their own businesses or shop windows.
Griffith Real Estate, where Ms Zandona is a property manager have been participating in the campaign for five years now and this year they are going all out.
"People can come and donate their bras to the Griffith Real Estate office and we will match that with a five dollar donation," Tony Santolin, director of Griffith Real Estate said.
Vanessa Bugno, owner of lingerie business Strawberries on Ice will also match every five dollar donation from Griffith RE to encourage people to give bras to a good cause.
"Obviously this is an important cause to me, being in the lingerie business," Mrs Bugno said.
"I'm here to help ladies and support them through their journey and I'm very grateful for Tony and what he's doing.
"If people can donate their bras to Griffith RE, to pay it forward we are looking at donating all bras to under privileged countries or people in need."
Almost 10,000 dollars has been raised so far through the donations page but with two weeks still to go in October Pink Up Griffith's target of 11,000 dollars is sure to be smashed.
Almost 20,000 women have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, but with initiatives like Pink Up Your Town raising increased awareness of preventative screening and personal breast health, survival rates are encouraging.
