The youth on the other hand have been affected in many areas that is particular to them. Study, homelessness, mental health. It is importance, therefore, to remember to reach out in the many areas that are available.
It is of benefit for teachers, friends and families to have meaningful discussions on how COVID is affecting you. Some areas to connect are, the wider community, Uni societies, multicultural groups, social spaces. Showing solidarity in going through this together. Mentoring programs are also beneficial in assisting students and young people to catch up and keep the connectivity.
There are many opportunities for volunteering too, such as multicultural committees or with other groups within the community. Volunteering is important because it builds skills and strengths, new ideas can be brought forward and create opportunities to participate. There are also many options to study and graduate and one should not fixate on one avenue.
The bi-lingual workers have been busy connecting with the community, in particular the Italian and Afghani. Good information has come to light on how many services are missing to help those in the community, in particular, in their senior years. This will help us focus on how to improve the services to the community to help them live better.
There has been an outcry for this very important service to be established in the Griffith, not only for the migrant communities, but for the general community too. We have portrayed the importance to Griffith City Council of the need for a crematorium to be built in Griffith and should be a priority in the Cemetery realm. A number sites have been identified and lobbying will continue for this to happen.
