A MIA venue has copped a $5000 fine after being found in breach of the current COVID-19 restrictions.
Police visited the Leeton licensed premises for a business inspection about 11.30am on August 30, where they found the front bar was overcrowded and the layout of the room failed to provide enough distance between patrons.
A number of patrons were also seen standing and mingling between tables, breaching physical distancing.
Licensing officers from Murrumbidgee Police District commenced inquiries into the potential breaches, and as a result, the venue's 31-year-old female licensee was issued with a Penalty Infringement Notices for not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 - COVID 19 - Corporation - $5,000.
Licencing police will continue to enforce compliance checks at licensed premises and other venues across the Riverina to ensure the Public Health Orders are being adhered to.
