The home side started the strong, and after having a shot come back off the crossbar, Johane Oberholzer was able to open the scoring after pinching the ball in the midfield and then advancing into the box before placing it into the bottom corner.
Hanwood soon doubled their lead as after working the ball around the box, Alana Marando's ball into the box was deflected into the path of Kandice Bertoldo tucked away her shot at the second opportunity to make it 2-0 heading into the halftime break.
Airlee Savage almost extended her side's advantage but hit the post and from the at point Junee started to find their footing in the game.
On a couple of occasions, Hanwood struggled to get the ball clear from their defence and the Jaguars were almost able to find a couple of goals after forcing turnovers.
Against the run of play, Nicola Zanotto was able to put away a cross from Savage to all but wrap up the three points in favour of the home side.
Junee was able to get a goal back after Kandice Bertoldo gave away a free kick on the edge of the box. Abby Foley stepped up to take the free-kick for the visitors and looped the ball over Maree Cirillo and into the back of the net.
Savage had another couple of chances to put the game to bed but couldn't find a way past the Junee keeper.
With coach Anthony Zucatto away this weekend, assistant coach Tara Ceccato stepped up and was pleased with the way her side adapted to the change but knows there are improvements to be made.
"We have a bit to work on if I'm honest and with our main coach being away I mixed it up a bit and played the girls in some new positions," she said.
"They (Junee) had no subs, so they did really well."
There was one concern with talented forward Oberholzer going down with an injury concern late in the first half, but Ceccato was hopeful she would be right for next weekend.
"She had a bit of a pull in her hamstring, so she sat out," she said.
"We thought it was better to do that than have her go back on.
"We will have to see how she pulls up we won't push it. We have some other girls who can go upfront to cover."
Hanwood will take on Wagga United at Hanwood Oval next weekend..
