The kindhearted gesture has seen family and friends rally to support the local kitchen hand, seeing a total of $430 raised in just a few days.
Best friend and event organiser Katie-Grace Dean says the fundraiser came as a no-brainer, as she wanted to lend a helping hand to Dimity in her time of need.
"She's a great, great person," Ms Dean said.
"Kind, loving, very caring, always there if you need a friend or someone to talk to.
"We wanted to do something to help her out in the long-term, with expenses of treatment or anything else that might come up."
Ms Dean has set her sights on achieving $2,000 but is eager to achieve more.
"If we get more than $2,000 we'd be incredibly happy, we want to get as much as we can," she said.
"Our fingers are crossed for her, we just wanted to do something to show our support and show her that she's got people around her that want to help.
"Hopefully we can just get enough money to help her out and show our support during these times."
The Expatriates Auto Club have jumped on board to assist with the fundraiser, while Yenda Hair Affair will be shaving Ms Dean's hair free of charge to show their support.
Yenda Hotel have kindly donated their beer garden to host a barbecue for Ms Sweeting's family and friends, but the venue will be limited to a 30 person capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
"It's been a great community effort, we've been overwhelmed by how many people are showing their support," Ms Dean said.
