The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how often visitors are allowed in, but it couldn't stop her celebrating her 104th birthday.
Settler's Unit activities co-ordinator Carmela Naseby said Mrs Johnstone was an inspiration.
"She still goes to the gym and says her secret to long life is hardwork," Ms Naseby said.
"She always has a go at everything we do."
Each day Mrs Johnstone doesn't leave her room until she's had her hair done and gotten her lipstick on.
Ms Naseby said she didn't let things get to her and was quite independent but easy going.
Mrs Johnstone was born on Farm 475 at Murrami on September 1, 1916 to Francis and Mary Jane Chester. Mrs Chester drew land at Warburn when Mrs Johnstone was 15 and they moved there to clear the land for farming.
She married Stan in 1938 and they began share farming the property.
Mrs Johnstone was often driving horse teams for harvest or other farming work, as well as looking after the family home for their two sons, Barry and Graeme.
While Mr Johnstone died in 1975, Mrs Johnstone stayed at the farm until 1981 where she moved to Wakaden Street.
When she was 101 she made to the move to Pioneers Lodge.
Pioneers Lodge facility manager Jane Bonny said aged cared wasn't just about medical needs.
"It's a holistic approach, spiritual, physical, emotional and medical care," Ms Bonny said.
She said Mrs Johnstone was a role model for both staff and residents at Pioneers Lodge.
"She has a few words of wisdom for residents and staff," Ms Bonny said.
