The hospital are looking to expand in order to meet the increased community demand for ENT services, which will allow more patients access to localised treatment without the need to travel to Sydney.
St Vincent's Curran Foundation CEO, Shanthini Naidoo, says expanding the facility will mean that patients could be treated locally, rather than having to take lengthy stays away from their family or work commitments.
"The whole aim of this hospital ever since we started four years ago is to try and minimise the amount of time spent by people living in Griffith travelling to Sydney for procedures that they can have here," Ms Naidoo said.
"It's about being able to do more here, our major aim has been to bring some of the expertise from St Vincent's in Sydney to Griffith."
To enable the expansion, St Vincent's Private Community Hospital are seeking $60,000 from the Griffith community, which will go towards specialist ENT equipment.
Serious ENT, head and neck cancer patients have the best outcomes if they are treated early, which requires specialised equipment and staff available to meet their needs.
Griffith local Roy Spagnolo is one of the hospital's grateful patients who can see the benefits of having localised services.
"The more we build on the foundations that have been laid, the better off we'll be as time progresses," Mr Spagnolo said.
"Especially now with COVID-19, people are more reluctant to travel which makes it an even better fit."
St Vincent's Private Community Hospital have already raised $20,000 for the project, but are seeking further funds to reach their target.
The not-for-profit organisation wanted to thank those who have already contributed, making special mention of the Cassella and Spagnolo families for their generous donations.
