They've restarted their workshop program with the Lilac Group spearheading efforts to rebuild the program and a workspace
"The GPSO Workshop program kicked off again because of COVID we haven't been able to get out into the community as much as we have done," Lilac Group team leader Brooke Wells said.
To help restart the workshop program, the Lilac Group decided to build some Christmas trees made from donated wooden pallets.
The pallets were cut into shape, sanded and then painted. The trees were then sold to generate some funds to support the program.
GPSO clients did the work by hand to start with and to help make the process easier, Mrs Wells said a number of businesses were contacted to help out.
Griffith's Inspirations Paint owner Chris Sergi offered to donate some paint and help teach GPSO clients some skills to make the project easier.
While they were expecting only a short lesson in painting - it quickly became much more.
During his first visit Mr Sergi brought some paint along and shared some expertise before returning with more goodies over a few weeks.
In the end Mr Sergi donated paint brushes, many litres of paint including stains and tints, liquid adhesives and a paint spray gun.
Mr Sergi said after he saw what the Lilac Group members were doing he wanted to help out more.
"It's about giving them a shot and things they wouldn't have the chance to do," Mr Sergi said.
He said the real reward was seeing how the donations made their day.
"He's essentially brought us everything we need to setup our shed over three weeks. As well as doing practical demonstrations," Mrs Wells said.
"Any donations from the public are of huge value, let alone one of Griffith's businesses being so wonderful."
The Christmas trees made by GPSO's Lilac Group have all been sold out, and more tools have sourced so that the Lilac Group don't have to do everything by hand.
"We had a goal of 20 and they've all been sold. We will pop them on GPSO's Facebook when they're ready to go again," Mrs Wells said.
