Griffith police are hunting a man who assaulted an 80-year-old in Yambil Street.

Around 6.40pm on Saturday, the 80-year-old man was walking east along Yambil Street when he was confronted by a younger man.
The younger man assaulted the 80-year-old, causing him to fall to the ground as the assault continued.
A number of witnesses intervened to stop the assault and the offender fled the scene.
The older man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital, and he has since been airlifted to the Canberra Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Griffith police are searching for a man described as having a dark complexion, with dark hair cut into a distinctive style with short sides and thick on top.
The man was wearing a red flannelette shirt and tight jeans.
