Griffith's Legatees continue to support 200 widows and family members in the city, providing help to their children, home visits and more.
The COVID-19 pandemic has meant many changes, for Legacy keeping their promise to families will not.
"Although our work has never been more vital in providing support and services for some of the most vulnerable in the community, these times have meant that some divisions including Griffith have had to make some difficult decisions," Griffith Legacy president Greg Walton said.
For many years high school students have helped sell Legacy's badges in Banna Avenue and across many other towns and cities.
"We are very grateful for the assistance the high schools have given Legacy over many years and unfortunately we will miss the opportunity this year due to the restrictions in place and subsequently our funds raised will be well down on previous years," Mr Walton said.
"However, we are looking at other ways in which we can have the community getting involved and collecting funds for our very worthy cause."
Mr Walton said a smaller kiosk would be held focusing just on the badges, pens and bears which provide Legacy with the much-needed funds for their mission.
"We will not have the students selling badges up and down the street or a street stall where produce is available but there will be Legatees at the street stall kiosk selling badges, pens and bears using a tap and go process," Mr Walton said.
"If people wish to purchase items with cash then this facility will be available also. Some business houses in Griffith have kindly offered to place a tray of badges on their front counters for customers to purchase."
Legacy Badge day is September 4 and for people who would like to assist or donate, they can contact Mr Walton on 0418 272 170 or Hank Veenhuizen on 0407 487 167.
