The Griffith Vintage Festival is the latest local event to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic.
Organisers have made the call to can the 2020 event completely after it was postponed in March to the Saturday of the October long weekend.
"We have watched and waited in anticipation over the past five months that the situation may improve," Carrah Lymer said.
"Unfortunately, we can not in good conscience proceed with the event, even in a very stripped back format because when it comes to the health of our local community we are not willing to take the risk, especially when cases in areas of NSW are still emerging."
Instead of a weekend of wonder at the old Miranda Wines grounds, festival organisers are working through a new plan to showcase the delicious offerings of the MIA.
"With many of our cellar doors not currently operating and the restrictions with dining out, we still wanted to showcase the wonderful range of wine and food we have on our doorstep," Ms Lymer said.
"So we are packaging up some great wine and food offers for locals to be able to enjoy at home over the October long weekend."
Anyone who purchased tickets for the 2020 event have the option of holding onto their tickets, which will be valid for the 2021 festival on March 1, or a refund.
