Luckily the course is one of the best wet weather courses in the country and as the saying goes, the cream rises to the top.
Matt Staines defied the conditions with two under oar rounds of 68-70-138 to easily lead over Josh Stapleton 72-74-146, Jason Magoci 77-76-153 and Luke Devalentin 74-79-158.
In A Reserve, Trevor Richard leads 82-83-165 from Adrian Smith 84-83-167, Tony McBride 85-85-170, and Justin Robertson 86-85-171.
Brendon Peters 178 leads B Grade from Liam Blanch 178,Shannon Windle 179 and Charlie Guglielmino 183.
Nick Van Lijf 194 leads C Grade then Tom Watson 195, Chic Graham 197, Steve Lightfoot 199.
Michael Waanders 211 leads D Grade from Michael Vitucci and Charlie Jones 235.
All these players must play in a seeded draw in the final two rounds this coming weekend.
Last Saturday's event was a single stroke with 105 players. Peter Gill fired 81 to win A Grade on 68 nett, over Matt Staines 71 nett,68 nett, playing off plus three over Max Turner 71 nett.
John Bortolazzo 73 nett, 89 off the stick on a countback over Liam Blanch 87, 73 nett on a countback over Brendon Peters. Michael Waanders, days best score, 66 nett 99 off the stick from Tom Watson 68 nett 94 scratch.
Vouchers went to 77 nett.
Another single stroke on Sunday with 86 players. Jason Magoci fired five over par 76 to win A Grade on 73 nett on a countback over Luke DeValentin 73 nett on a countback over Matt Staines 70-73 nett.
Shannon Windle carded the days best score, 66 nett to easily win B Grade, Josh Smith 71 nett second.
Robert Favero won C Grade on 73 nett over Michael Vitucci 74 nett on a countback over Nick Van Lijf.
Vouchers to 79 nett.
Golf Clinics this week, Seniors on Tuesday at 2.00pm. Ladies 2.00pm Friday and Juniors on Sunday for 5-16 years at 10.0oam. Contact the Pro Shop.
The Clubhouse is now only open on Saturdays at 10.00am to 6.00pm and Sundays 11.00am to 6.00pm.
At a well attended Annual General Meeting last Tuesday, Robin Salvestro was re-elected as President, Ryan Harrison takes over as Club Captain and Brett Jones and Josh Stapleton elected to the Board.
This weeks events Wednesday single stableford, Saturday and Sunday are single strokes, the veterans play a medley stableford and the First Round of the Handiskins is also on Saturday.
The veterans played a medley single stableford last Thursday with 29 players.
John Bortolazzo 39 points, birdies on the 1st. and 11th. won Div. 1 over Allan King 38 points, Ron Smith 40 points won Div. 2, Lindsay Martyn 38 points runner-up.
Vouchers to 31 points.
Another single stableford last Wednesday. Brian Savage 39 points won A Grade, Peter Henderson 36 points second. Garry Hartnett 38 points best in B GRade on a countback over John Badoco 38 points.
Whilst John Gavin 38 points won C Grade over Don Catanzariti 37 points. Vouchers to 31 points.
