Approximately 50 decided to return to normal run time and 50 continued with a virtual run. Procedures were in place to ensure social distancing, good hygiene and temperature testing.
Hayley McLeod still leads the long course competition, but her lead has shrunk from 28 to 17 points. In the first 4 races she was consistently in the top six placings, however for race five she was placed 31st.
In the overall competition Hamish Gunn 2nd and Sonia Casanova 3rd both put in strong performances with placings 13th and 6th respectively.
With only three more runs left in the competition the field is opening up and there are 4 or 5 Ferals who could snatch the competition.
There is stark contrast in the short course competition where Chloe Morshead has increased her hold on the competition by extending her lead over Copper Savage to 38 points.
For race 5, if we had a winner's podium David Heffer would have taken the centre position with Brit Mayo and Shaun Flood standing either side of him.
Shaun was also the quickest on the day completing 7.6km in just 30:00 minutes. In the short course Brian Bellicanta was first followed by Chloe Morshead and Alex Gullo. Nate Mingay was the fastest over the short course.
It is now only 2 weeks to the PinnacleHPC Accountants 21km Half On The Hill on Sunday August 9th.
Those wanting to register for either the full half marathon or as a team with categories men, women and mixed, can do so by going to the Ferals webpage.
Subject to no change in NSW Government regulations, the Ferals meet at the green water tower opposite Pioneer Park every Saturday for a 4:30pm start. People interested in friendly social running are welcome to join the club.
