Coach Anthony Agresta knows it will be essential that his side hits the ground running.

"Hopefully we can go a bit better than last week and try to get off to a better start than last week," he said.

"I think that is the crucial thing. There were probably a few things that contributed to that, but hopefully, we will be able to iron those out."

The Hanwood coach is expecting this weekend to be another tough game with South Wagga also coming into the game off the back of a 15-1 defeat at the hands of Young.

"They probably had a hard week last week, so I'm sure they will look to want to rectify things," he said.

"I think they have a new coach from last year and some new players, so they are similar to us.

"You are still trying to find the right balance and combinations and things like that because we haven't had the opportunity for trial games, so you are pretty much just going with what you think and what you are seeing at training.

"It is a bit different when you are getting out there and playing a game."

The Hanwood side is also preparing the head into the clash without the services of defender Sevi Tropea who hurt his hamstring against Henwood Park.

" I don't think he did it bad but whenever there is a niggle in the hammy you probably don't tend to take the risk especially for next week," he said.

"I think it will be more than likely that he will sit out this week."

With the ever-changing landscape of sport in the Riverina, Agresta knows that the season could be called off at any minute with the COVID-19 numbers starting the rise again.

"The way things are going at the moment nothing would surprise me," he said.

"With everything that has been going on and given it is starting to spike again.

"Football Wagga did everything right to try and get it off the ground, and we have known from the start that it would probably be a week to week thing. Things can change pretty quickly."
