The short answer is no.
In reality? A single passenger with a permit to cross the border arrived in Griffith on Friday and was met by staff from Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
Concern about the spread of COVID-19 are understandable, no one wants the virus to reach Griffith.
Nobody wants to see loved ones suffer from virus, and they don't want to go back into lockdown or quarantine - again, understandable.
The Area News reported last week that following the border closure between NSW and Victoria several measures have been enacted by MLHD to protect the community.
We also reported the measures put in place by MLHD and other airlines flying into Griffith.
For irresponsible fear mongers, those facts don't matter.
They'll get their thrills by putting out false information to confuse, anger and annoy the community.
Sure, there is an implied right of free speech in Australia, but that comes with responsibility. One that is frequently ignored by people more interested in getting Facebook likes or shares.
The Area News takes its responsibility for informing our community seriously.
It's always worth questioning the source of information on social media, rather than believing what an anonymous Facebook account believes is true.
