The Eagles have declared the risk too great amid rising community concern about the coronavirus pandemic.
"We've had an executive meeting and a committee meeting and we're not prepared to play in the 2020 season," Narrandera president Mark Savage said.
Savage said he applauds Southern NSW general manager Marc Geppert and AFL Riverina chairman Michael Irons for the efforts but said too much has moved against them in the last week. .
The Eagles said they've kept the Riverina League abreast of their concerns.
"We're just not prepared to put our community at risk. There's a lot of volunteers and a lot of people who support the club from our local community," Savage said.
"Health and safety, there's too much responsibility on clubs. Anyone can walk off the street and into the football and we don't know where they've been.
"They're unsure about crowd numbers and what restrictions we'll have... it's just getting too hard.
"We've had a lot of phone calls from people in the community worried about it - supporters, sponsors, wanting to know what's going on and voicing their opinion and most of them were that we shouldn't play. So it's more of a town decision as well."
Only last week, the Eagles were set to bring former coach and league medallist Jared Lane back to the club.
They were also due to host the Northern Jets in a practice match this Saturday but have cancelled that.
Savage said he wanted to pay tribute to those in the football community who have done their utmost to get football competitions going.
"They've done a really good job, Michael Irons and his group and Marc Geppert. They've been in a hard situation, and they've really tried to hold it together but it's just gone too far now.
"Considering the circumstances, they've done a great job. They're understaffed and undermanned and the situation has kept changing all the time."
