Yanco-Wamoon first team into grand final
Yanco-Wamoon is the first team into the League Tag grand final following a thrilling golden-point win over Black and Whites at Exies Oval on Sunday afternoon.
It was the Black and Whites who hit the scoreboard first with a chip kick over the top from Shailyn Williams finding its way to Lara Rossetto who got the ball down in the corner.
It looked like the Panthers had doubled their lead with Sophie Bozic getting over however play was called back due to a mistake in the lead-up. They didn't have to wait much longer for their second try of the afternoon with Ashleigh Penrith getting over.
The Hawks were able to get a crucial try just before the break as Breeanna Coelli got over the line to make it 12-4.
The Panthers had a shot from almost in front to extend their lead to 10 points however Williams missed the penalty, but the pain was short-lived it seemed with Lily-Belle Misiloi scoring in the corner.
The Hawks refused to lay down and with three minutes to go Coelli made the most of a mistake from the Panthers to reduce the gap to six points before the Yanco-Wamoon side drew level with Jenna Elliot getting over the line and with Monique Higgins kicking the conversion the game headed to golden point with the score locked at 16-all.
With two minutes gone in the extra period, the Black and Whites gave away a penalty in front of the post and Higgins made no mistake kicking the goal to send her side through to the decider.
The Hawks coach admitted she was nervous as she stepped up for the kick.
"It (heart rate) was really racing, and the wind was against us," she said.
"I even had a tear thinking oh my god don't miss it, but as soon as I hit it, I knew that it was going over.
"It was a great feeling and bring on the grand final."
The Black and Whites will have a second chance to get into the grand final this weekend when they take on Leeton after they defeated West Wyalong 60-0 in the minor semifinal at Darlington Point.
