The Riverina League draw was released on Friday with every home and away game scheduled for a Saturday.

The move has been made to allow clubs to maximise on function opportunities in the shortened season.

There is also no same-day junior and senior football to be played this year, taking away one of the major attractions of playing on a Sunday for the majority of clubs.

Clubs may still request a change to a Sunday, but the draw has been put together with a clear focus on Saturday games.

Riverina League president Chris Flanigan was happy to give the clubs what they want.

"With such a shortened time frame, clubs were looking for every opportunity they could to support their sponsors, and be able to hold functions," Flanigan said.

"That was the primary reason around it."

Among the concerns of the move is with nine Saturday fixtures across Riverina and Farrer Leagues, there will be extra pressure on umpire numbers.

It also restricts the opportunity for Riverina and Farrer League supporters to watch games from the other competition.

Flanigan said there is nothing stopping clubs, upon agreement, moving to a Sunday if they desire.

"By all means, if its mutually agreeable, if say Coolamon and Ganmain wanted to play on a Sunday. Happy days, go for it," he said.

"There's that flexibility there but there was a lot of feedback from clubs around they would like to be able to have the opportunity, just not on home games but away games, to hold a function on a Saturday night."

The only time Sunday games will be played is during the first two weeks of finals.

In other news from the draw, Coolamon, Griffith and Narrandera will all host finals at their venues after they were the three existing Riverina League clubs to only get four home games.

Those finals are part of a new top six format that will be played out over four weeks.

Riverina League newcomers Osborne will tackle defending premiers Wagga Tigers at Robertson Oval in a round one blockbuster on July 18.

In other round one games, Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong will host Griffith, Coolamon welcome Turvey Park, Leeton-Whitton are at home to Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes and Narrandera will travel to take on Collingullie-Glenfield Park.

The grand final is scheduled for October 10 at Narrandera Sportsground.
