Ms Whitehead brings with her extensive knowledge of the arts sector, assisting the team with her expertise in management, administration and fundraising.
"I feel that the long-term presence and level of tutoring that the conservatorium delivers is very important to arts and culture in this regional area," Ms Whitehead said.
"It provides a real opportunity for any student of any age to follow a musical passion through a curriculum that is of high quality, that is peer assessed, and that is industry approved."
Currently executive director of Western Riverina Arts, Ms Whitehead decided to join the MRCM in June as a volunteer board member.
That decision came courtesy of her respect and appreciation for previous executive officer, Derek Motion, founding the organisation.
"It is important to keep the continuum," Ms Whitehead explained.
"Being a member of the organisation bring benefits to both student and tutors alike, based right here in the Riverina.
"Our community is extremely lucky to have this and I look forward to being able to contribute in some way to its unfolding success."
The MRCM was established in 2017 by a group of passionate musicians, teachers and community organisations to promote the study and performance of music in the Murrumbidgee region.
As well as teaching and music education programs, MRCM works with a range of community partners to deliver creative musical projects that encourage the appreciation, performance and participation in music by young people in the region.
