With uncertainty surrounding the GDFA season at the start of the year, Yoogali turned to Football Wagga and asked if they would be allowed to come across to keep their club alive.
There request was rejected in January with Football Wagga citing a desire to consolidate the current competition and ensuring Junee makes a smooth return as the key factors.
The Griffith outfit was informed they wouldn't be granted entry to Wagga's first-grade men's competition this year, but future proposals would be reconsidered.
At that time Yoogali FC had gone on the record to say the club would still be keen to join the competition at some stage.
Six month later and with competitions falling by the wayside due to concerns over COVID-19, the GDFA senior season won't be going ahead and a chance for Football Wagga to potentially give Yoogali FC a chance to prove themselves.
Instead, after Albury-Wodonga Football Association pulled the pin on their season, the club contacted Football Wagga on Monday night to gauge interest in playing in the Pascoe Cup.
Football Wagga president Tony Dobbin said they gave the request the green light after favourable feedback from most clubs.
The decision isn't sitting well with Yoogali FC coach Ross Marando who feels they could have been considered if they were going to let teams into the competition.
"I found out through word of mouth," he said.
"The club has been left a little frustrated, and we don't feel like we were given a chance. Given that our competition folded earlier, it might have been nice to know that this option was on the table."
The temporary inclusion of Yoogali FC would have been a travel saving decision from Football Wagga for the two other MIA based teams in the competition, Hanwood FC and Leeton United.
Instead, now all of Albury City's home games will be played in Wagga, eliminating the travel concerns raised by some clubs when asked their thoughts on their inclusion.
