94 Feral's tested the new long course and short course tracks between Monday 22nd June and Sunday 28th June. Facebook comments included: -
"thanks to awesome people who fixed the track- it was a good run!",
"great course thanks", "beautiful track", "I did this on Wednesday and loved the new track, so I took my dog for a walk up there again today and saw a few other Feral's along the way!", "great fun track, certainly worth the wheelbarrow work!"
The new course was devised because running down the burnt car fire trail (also known as fire trail11) was deemed too dangerous. Ironically the co-chief track developer, Moreno Chiappin, was the first to shed blood on the new course taking a fall at the top of the new loop.
In the long course Angus Gunn was declared first followed by Hayley McLeod and Nicole Dehnert. Aidan Hill spent the least amount of time on the course completing his run in 24:17 minutes. The quickest woman was Eliza Star completing the course in 28:51minutes.
In the short course the son and father combination saw Digby Jones first, just a head of his dad Allan Jones. Chloe Morshead was third. Nate Mingay's 14:57 minutes was the fastest time on the short course and Ella Savage 17:12 minutes was the quickest woman.
While result reports list the top placings, it is also worthy to note that some 15-20 Feral's like to walk the course and enjoy the scenery. For almost all Feral's, it is all about enjoying participation at any level rather than winning, that way we are all winners.
The Wardle Waddle sponsored by Franks Service Centre is another Feral award. The award goes to the Feral who accumulates the most kilometres in a Jogging Year. Tallying started in 1994 and the competition immortalises the late Gary Wardle, a Feral who simply loved running. Current leader is John Farronato who has clocked up 194.6km so far this year ahead of John Dodd who has accumulated 182.7km for the year. Since recorded time, John Dodd has run 7,233.4km on the Hill.
