For those that leave in search of an education, it's rare to see them return home after they build connections in Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra or Melbourne.

But it seems it's not all bad news.

The Regional Australia Institute has released research which show millennials, those born after 1980 and until around 1996 generally, are making their way out of the cities.

It's great to see because you can often lock in a career, house and better lifestyle than what's available in metropolitan areas.

Griffith being a better place to live than metro areas isn't exactly news - we all live here after all... but it's good to see the message about regional Australia is finally catching on where it needs to.

And the positives?

Well, for the rest of us who haven't left it in a while, people moving to our area means we shouldn't see our area going backwards.

Once this viral pandemic is dealt with, we'll have a great foundation for this city to continue growing as people start their careers, businesses and continue the good work done by many generations before us.
