The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) announced on Thursday afternoon they will not be granting visitor access to any of the health district's sites if the person applying for access has been in Melbourne at any time since June 11.
The decision comes as coronavirus cases in Victoria increase by 33 overnight amid worries of an increase in community transmission in the state.
As of 8am on June 25, there have been no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District in the last four weeks, with a total of 17,077 tests to date.
MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said anyone who has returned from Melbourne and has "even the mildest symptoms" should seek testing.
"After the great work that Murrumbidgee residents have done to limit the transmission of the virus, it is critical that we take these precautionary steps to keep our patients safe," Ms Ludford said.
"Anyone who has come from Melbourne, including NSW residents, should not attend aged care facilities, hospitals or other settings with vulnerable people for a period of 14 days."
The health district will implement additional screening requirements for visitors at sites such as the Griffith Base Hospital to further allow for the protection of potentially vulnerable patients, with the requirements also extending to staff - who will be required to be symptom-free for 14 days before they can return to work.

MLHD's medical services executive director Dr Len Bruce said areas along the border between NSW and Victoria will see more mobile testing sites deployed to increase testing rates in those areas.
"We need to continue to maintain our vigilance along the Victorian border given the recent rise in numbers," Dr Bruce said.
"Detecting the virus early is a priority for us in the Murrumbidgee and will help us to take early intervention to stop the spread."
The health district has recommended people follow the rules around gatherings, maintain physical distance when they are out and about, and wash their hands frequently and thoroughly.
Anyone who feels unwell is invited to call the Murrumbidgee COVID hotline on 1800 831 099 to arrange an appointment at their nearest testing centre, whether that be a clinic or a GP practice.
