The junior Blacks will start training on Friday as they gear up for the season and club president Chris McGregor can't wait to see the kids back out on the park.
"Getting the kids back running around, getting them doing something active and getting back into a bit of sport and getting some normality back into life," he said.
"Next Friday we can start to do some contact training and obviously with COVID depending on what happens throughout the state we will be guided by that.
"This week we can use footys (sic) and everything, but we just can't do any contact work."
McGregor stressed that any player who is intending to train must be registered via the Rugby Explorer App to be covered by insurance.
When registering at this stage parents are asked to selected training only until the club is able to work out numbers for teams but if you have already registered before the season was postponed there is no need to register again.
As for the season itself, McGregor believes at this stage the season will run over a six to eight week period with the start date proposed for July 26, and there may be a bonus for players and their families.
"They are going to try and minimise travel as much as possible," he said.
"There will be some travel but not to the extent that we would normally travel."
With the number of junior sports not going ahead this season, McGregor was hoping the club may see a bit of a rise in the number of players.
"We are hoping that with no other real sports except for soccer playing this year that we might get a bit of an uplift through the club and give a different experience to kids that have never thought about playing the game of rugby," he said.
"It could give the kids who have played rugby league the chance to learn something different.
"We aren't too sure about numbers at the moment, but everyone is welcome. We have always been a strong club, but anyone who wants to have a run is more than welcome to come along."
For any players who may be interested training will get underway at 6pm on Friday at Jubliee Oval. Anyone seeking more details can contact Chris McGregor on 0407 433 185.
