I have been reading about the excellent work being done by Griffith City Council with two excellent initiatives in the pipeline.

Lets hope the funding application for the Winter Delight light display in Kooyoo Street is successful as this is one of those initiatives that is completely from left field when it comes to an activity in rural NSW.
A fantastic idea that will hopefully become a reality that can be added to the events calendar and attract the attention of the community and visitors alike.
The other initiative which has got the funding is the Griffin Green affordable housing project.
There is an obvious need for permanent accommodation for the section of our community that have limited financial capacity.
Thanks to the council in partnership with the government and Argyle Housing these families will be greatly assisted.
Although the location for this housing estate hasn't been widely publicized I know that the usual public concerns of decreased land valuations and disruptions to established neighbourhoods will play out, however the greater good of the entire community must be considered over and above the social biases of those who will be in opposition.
I'm sure that there will be more than a few battles before the construction can start but I just ask the community to get behind the council and recognise the great work being done.
Council are not sitting on their hands as they could have chosen to do and deserve our support.
