The development application for the park was given approval during Griffith City Council's Tuesday meeting.
Nine-year-old Jackson helped kickstart the project with a petition, which eventually grew into earning a place on the My Community Project program, which had residents from around the Murray state electorate voting on which projects got funding.
The skate park was the most popular project from among 35 in the electorate competing for $260,000 in state government funding.
Now with council approval, there's just under six months left to make the project a reality.
"The committee is over the moon," Yenda Skate Park committee spokeswoman Ann Furner said.
Ms Furner said there were still a few more details to be completed including a construction certificate and after that, the committee will work with council to develop a graffiti policy.
She said skate park designers CONVIC would need to finalise a few details and what they'll need to complete construction before the first sod is turned.
The $200,000 in funding from My Community Project has to be spent by the end of the year.
"Reaching the deadline is absolutely possible," Ms Furner said.
She said CONVIC was expecting to complete construction work within 12 weeks.
However, before construction is finished, Ms Furner said the committee be looking to create some ground rules for the skate park.
"We'll get a group of kids together to work out some basic rules and how they will behave," she said.
As part of those rules, the skate park will be closed on Anzac Day.
Jackson's dad David Dunn said the skate park would give children something else to do in Yenda.
"It will be great when it's done, it will give the kids something to do, and give the kids a little bit of self-confidence," Mr Dunn said.
A keen BMX and scooter rider, Jackson simply plans to ride around the park once it's finished and try not to break any bones.
"I can't wait," Jackson said.
