One of the city's most prominent businessmen, Paul Mackay has died.
His family announced that he had faced a short battle with cancer and died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Mr Mackay ran Mackay's Furniture One - a business started by his grandparents, until it was sold in 2019.
He has been described as an adoring nonno, respected businessman and a great friend.
Mr Mackay is survived by his wife Maria, three children and five grandchildren.
Calls for privacy have been requested at this time.
The family has asked anyone wanting to show their respects and support for the family, to contact Griffith Regional Funeral Services to make a contribution to Country Hope Griffith.
Mr Mackay is the son of the late Donald Mackay who is believed to have been murdered after running an anti-drugs campaign in the 1970s.
