Griffith's Sarah Vitucci enjoyed one of the best Mother's Day gifts a mum could receive - her son Jace was born. With baby Jace delivered by cesarean at Griffith Base Hospital, Mrs Vitucci didn't initially realise what day it was.

"It's pretty special, he was the only baby born on Mother's Day in Griffith," Mrs Vitucci said.
"We rang our parents on Mother's Day and told them they had a new grandson."
She said the with current COVID-19 pandemic the hospital's halls had been quiet, and it was a little sad not to be able to have visitors.

Fortunately it did mean that there was plenty of time for Mrs Vitucci and baby Jace to get to know each other and spend some quiet time bonding.
"I would love to have family and friends visit, but all the more cuddles when COVID is over," she said.
Tuesday marked International Nurses Day and Mrs Vitucci had high praise for the hospital's maternity ward staff.
"The midwives have been amazing, they've been really good."
