The work is due to run until April 21 from 7am to 6pm and will see a new rail crossing and signals installed at the intersection.
Motorists will need to follow a detour put in place along Whitton Stock-Route Road and Irrigation Way, with local traffic access being provided.
The upgrade is part of a wider upgrade to the intersection with a bridge along Irrigation Way also due to begin construction in May.
The intersection upgrade is due to be finished by the end of 2020, according to Transport NSW.
