Detectives from the NSW Police State Crime Command's drug and firearm squad formed Strike Force Hyperion to investigate outdoor cannabis cultivation in the Central West region of the state.
That investigation, during which police said they discovered a 20,000-acre property near Cobar was being used for growing cannabis, led to a search warrant being executed at a remote property on Tuesday.
Police raided the property at Tindarey, around 80km north of Cobar, in the afternoon.
They allegedly seized more than 3020 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of more than $6 million, as well as cannabis and a loaded double barrel shotgun found inside a house.
A 34-year-old Griffith man arrested at the property was taken to Cobar police station and is accused of being involved in the large-scale cultivation and supply of cannabis across NSW, police said.
He has been charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of a prohibited plant, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm and possessing ammunition without holding a licence/permit/authority.
