On Monday, Golf NSW communicated to clubs across the state a recommendation to close their facilities in line with advice from the Office of Sport and the NSW Department of Health.
The recommendation was issued following an update from the relevant Government Departments, stating the status do golf had been changed to a 'non-essential' activity effective from midnight on March 30.
Those decisions were then changed on Wednesday when the restrictions were lightened.
"After reconsideration, the Office of Sport - NSW Government has advised that golf is considered an activity that can continue to be played in line with Public Health Orders relating to public gathering limits, social distancing and the elderly," the statement for Golf NSW said.
Following the announcement on Wednesday, the Griffith Golf Course and Pro Shop announced they would re-open on Thursday with an Open Medley Stableford competition being held.
The clubs advised they would not be accepting cash so payments must be made by "Tap & Go" or Member Accounts and they would be strictly enforcing social distancing rules with limits of two per group alongside other restrictions.
