THE Griffith Lions Club have been awarded $66,521 to rebuild the derelict community shelter at Lake Wyangan.

The grant comes as part of the NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund, with MP Steph Cooke announcing a total of $869,139 to build new recreational facilities, create new health programs and upgrade infrastructure across the MIA.
President of the Lions Club, Brian Bortolin, is particularly eager to see the shelter rebuilt.
"We applied for the grant last year and now it's finally here," he said.
"We've been hoping to rebuild this shelter for a while now, it hasn't been touched since it was built.
"It's a great spot out here for the community too, I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished."
The upgrades will see new seating, cement, supports and roofing, plus a stainless steel barbecue and complete paint job.
Work was expected to begin next February, but COVID-19 has caused extensive delays for labourers.
A new start date will be announced in future.
