After winning the toss and electing to bat, Diggers took a slow and steady approach to their innings with Luke Peruzzi and Parash Patil at the top of the order.
Patil had to be replaced by Matt Crack out in the middle, but the pairing of Crack and Peruzzi were able to keep their side tracking along.
When Crack (32) departed after being dismissed by Damien Walker, Patil resumed his innings out in the middle and alongside Peruzzi got their side towards 100.
When Patil (14) was out caught and bowled by Dean Bennett, the cracks started to show with Diggers suffering a collapse.
Captain Theo Valeri departed with the score on 3/97 after he became Walker's second victim, but that was just the beginning.
Walker would go on to take another five wickets including the important wicket of Peruzzi (40), who had been working hard to occupy the crease.
Tom Valeri (12) was the only other Diggers batsman to reach double digits as Walker (7/40) ripped through the lower order with Bennett (3/18) taking the other two wickets to see Diggers bowled out for 121.
Bennett and Mitchell Williams-Hedges were left with 11 overs to face out before stumps and were able to do so to see the Cougars finish day one on 0/35.
The opening pair continued their good work early on day two as they were able to get their side to 87 before Matt Peruzzi (3/27) picked up three quick wickets.
Coro skipper Haydn Pascoe and Rob Rand were able to chase down the remaining 34 runs required to secure first-innings points and started to establish a lead before Pascoe fell with the score on 147 and Rand followed closely behind with Theo Valeri (2/53) taking the wickets.
Will Kennedy (13*) and Tim Rand (3*) continued to build Coro's lead before the Diggers decided to concede the result with Coro finishing on 5/166 to hold a 45-run lead.
The Cougars will have the week off before taking on the winner of the preliminary final between Exies and Diggers.
