The Eagles won the toss on day one and elected to bat however some tight bowling from Hanwood had them up against it early.
Exies broke into double digits before Justin Winkler (1) was run out by Dean Catanzariti.
Jamie Winkler (12) followed closely behind when he was knocked over by Ben Rowston while Dean Wynne picked up the wicket of Phil Burge (1) to see Exies fall to 3/15.
Hayden Forner and Tom Spry were able to get their side moving in a positive direction before Josh Carn dismissed Forner (16).
Craig Burge joined Spry out in the middle, and the pair were able to play a crucial role for their side as they guided their team out of a potentially dangerous position.
Once Rowston dismissed spry (85) (2/26) the fourth wicket pairing had lifted Exies to 148. Burge continued to keep the score ticking over with Aditha Jayasuriya before wickets started to fall.
Jayasuriya (10) and Andy Arnold (0) both fell to Charlie Cunial (2/34) while Carn (2/21) picked up his second wicket when he trapped Connor Bock in front.
Marc Tucker (12) and Burge (44) added some late runs before Exies were eventually bowled out for 205.
In reply, while Hanwood lost Catanzariti (3) early on the rest of the top order managed to get starts but were able to go on with them.
Duane Ashcroft (2/13) picked up two wickets before Jamie Winkler picked up the dangerous Oliver Bartter (12).
Jarryd Day (4) and Micheal Crosato (14) tried to get their side moving forward before wickets started to fall when Day was dismissed by Arnold (1/21).
Again the lower order were all able to make starts with Brendan Hicken (12), Rowston (18), Charlie Cunial (16) and Angus Bartter (19) trying to make an impact for their side.
The bowling of Exies didn't let them break away however with Tom Spry (3/29) taking three wickets while Marc Tucker (2/28) picked up two to see Hanwood bowled out for 159.
Exies will now take on Diggers for a shot at taking on Coro in the first grade grand final.
