Production region now the 'sacrificial lamb'
It is interesting to note the NSW Irrigators Council's objection to the establishment of a National Water Ownership registry.

A Registry was agreed to in the National Water Initiative in 2004 and then embedded in the 2007 Water Act, in fact all parties of the intergovernmental agreement agreed to achieve these publicly accessible registries across all states in the basin .
Is it any wonder that organisations in the Southern Connected System are leaving the Council in droves?
Can the CEO or chair of the NSW IC please point out how you have effectively advocated for NSW Murray issues?
I don't think you have done this.
Instead I believe you have worked against those who are volunteering their time to try and bring balance to the diverse food and fibre production region which has become the sacrificial lamb for the top and bottom end which you seem to be protecting.

'Not another bloody meeting'
It breaks my heart and fries my brain the complete devastation and destruction I have seen in the Murray Darling Basin.
My great grandfather settled near Cobram Victoria in 1876.
He and all the other settlers worked extremely hard to forge out a future for them and their families, then came the advent of irrigation and our region exploded in development.
That development is being destroyed by minorities and ill experienced bureaucrats and politicians.
Mick Keelty has just held a round of meetings and we all said, "Not another bloody meeting".
Yet we filled the room it was held in and listened and this time we at least did not get fed outright lies.
Mick gives us a glimmer of hope but it is only a glimmer.
Since the basin plan's inception, I reckon the lies to truths we have been told is - lies 5,000,122, truths two.
I could go on and on about the destruction to farms, towns and the environment but it has all been well documented.
We are extremely poorly represented in our regions by the 2 main political parties and that is showing at the polling booths, we need to keep that change rolling on.
Onward we fight, fight with all our might.
CAN THE PLAN!

Water minister's 'poisoned chalice'
It seems that injecting millions of dollars into South Australia is a rite a passage for incoming Federal Water Ministers.
In 2018, not long after becoming Water Minister, David Littleproud made his way to the great state with a $70 million cash splash.
Similarly, Minister Pitt has followed suit with a $22 million cash hand-out to the state with the fullest fresh water storages in the country within two weeks of taking possession of the poisoned chalice.
Is it any wonder upstream states are calling for a Royal Commission? South Australia has reaped the benefits of the Murray Darling Basin Plan at the expense of food security and communities upstream, while at the same time destroying the Murray River and its environment along the way.
South Australia has numerous new irrigation developments, and river pumpers are allowed to pump water out of the river without water in their account; they can go into debit and settle it at the end of the month. What other state is allowed such luxuries?
