The Coro side won the toss and elected to bat but lost the wicket of Mitchell Williams-Hedges (0) early when he was caught off the bowling of Ben Watts.
Coro skipper Haydn Pascoe joined Dean Bennett out in the middle, and the pair put on 35 runs before Dean Villata dismissed Pascoe and Rob Rand (0) followed closely behind.
Bennett (47) kept the scoreboard ticking over however when he fell just short of fifty with the score on 83, it triggered a slight collapse.
Watts (4/24) picked up the wickets of Bennett, Angus Boulton (0) and Damien Walker (0) in quick succession while Kyle Bennett (0) fell to the bowling of Dean Aylett (3/15) 11 runs later to see the Cougars sitting on 7/94.
If not for late runs from Ben Signor (30) and Alex Flood (12) the Cougars could have been out for under 100 as it was they managed to reach 136 before being bowled out.
"We were looking at being lucky to get a hundred until Benny Sig came in and got 30 at the end," Pascoe said.
"We know that he can bat, it is just hard to give him a go at the top of the order."
Diggers made a flying start at the top of the order with Michael Duncan and Luke Peruzzi getting their side to 34 before Duncan (21) was knocked over by Alex Flood (1/16).
Peruzzi kept the scoreboard ticking over as Diggers looked to make the most of their early momentum before Dean Bennett made a significant breakthrough with the wicket of Tom Valeri (8).
Theo Valeri (9) and Peruzzi (26) were able to put on 27 runs for the third wicket before Jack Hutchinson (2/31) picked up the pair in consecutive deliveries.
Ben Watts tried to get his side out of a tricky situation after the loss of two quick wickets however Bennett (4/12) had over ideas as he picked up Watts (13), Dean Crack (0) and Aylett (0) in four deliveries to swing the momentum in favour of the Cougars.
With Diggers needing 37 runs off 12 overs, Parash Patil and Matt Crack tried to get their side back on track.
Crack (9) was caught behind off the bowling of Pascoe (1/23) with Diggers looking like they were getting back into the box seat with the score on 8/125 in the 36th over.
Leon Vico (0) was run out by Williams-Hedges after a great throw back from the boundary before Patil (13) was dismissed by Walker (1/2) to see Diggers bowled out for 129 with 36.4 overs bowled.
The Coro captain paid credit to the way his spinners changed the course of the game.
"I thought we were clutching at straws when they were at 2/80," Pascoe said.
"Dean (Bennett) and Jack (Hutchinson) came on and turned the tide in our favour, and we were able to get the roll on from there."
The seven-run win makes it two trophies in as many weeks for the Cougars as they look to complete the first-grade treble in three weeks with the first-grade premiership.
The two sides will resume their rivalry next weekend as they fight for the first place in the first-grade grand final.
