Two people have been caught by the same police officer in Griffith using their mobile phones, within just one hour.

On Saturday at 11am, police saw a man driving 10 kilometres below the speed limit on Lenehan Road, with a mobile phone in his left hand.
The 28-year-old denied holding his phone when pulled over.
Just 20 minutes later, another man was seen on Yambil Street cruising 20 kilometres below the speed limit, also with his phone in his left hand.
The 20-year-old also denied holding his phone.
Both drivers were fined $344 and lost five demerit points each.
The second driver was also issued an infringement for not displaying his P-plates.
Mobile phone detection cameras
Since the beginning of December, a mobile phone detection camera program has been out catching drivers using their mobile phones.
The program includes fixed and transportable cameras which operate at locations across NSW.

This is coupled with ongoing enforcement by police.
Warning letters relating to camera-detected offences were issued for the first three months, but the penalty now for offending drivers is five demerit points and a $344 fine, which increases to $457 in a school zone.
