The Barellan Masters Games is a fun weekend for all, with the community organisations benefiting through a grants system.

While it has always been a fun event at heart, the Barellan Masters Games also gives back to the community after all the play is done.

Since it started in 2010, the games have returned tens of thousands of dollars to community groups through a grants program.

"We set up a trust and organisations in Barellan put in for a grant, and we as a committee look at those applications," publicity officer Carl Chrirgwin said.

"Money in the past has gone to the CWA, Barellan Football Netball Club.

"We have given back upwards of $85,000 over the years, which has assisted the longevity of organisations in Barellan, as well as having the money to run the next year's games."

Projects that have been funded so far include solar heating at the pool, new netball courts at the sportsground and a new verandah at the CWA hall.
