CONCERN PLANE'S STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
As a historical archaeologist and teacher, I am concerned about the Fairey Firefly aircraft mounted on the pole in Griffith.

I have spoken to Bob Campbell and Peter from Fighter Rebuilds (who does the inspection of the aircraft) about the state of the airframe and how it needs to be taken down and preserved.
I argued for a similar initiative for the Sabre Jet at Raymond Terrace which has not been taken down and preserved at Fighter World.
There have been recommendations for it to come down but this has not happened.
It is a 70-year-old aircraft and due to its age and heritage significance needs preservation.
This is also a health and safety issue as parts or the structure itself may contain corrosion and this would compromise its structural integrity and pose a danger to the public below.
It has been taken apart (1991) and parts swapped so it is not one aircraft but a composite of two.
The aircraft originally was set up as an attraction and has no real significance to the city as it is a naval aircraft that served on carriers and at Nowra.
However, it is of significance as it is only one of a few such aircraft remaining in Australia from the Korean War era.
There are only four preserved Fireflys in Australia and four ex-RAN overseas in the US and Canada. It would be appropriate for this aircraft to be preserved as well.

BRITAIN THROWS OFF SHACKLES OF EU
Great news to see and hear that Britain has finally off loaded the shackles that founded it to be dictated too long by outside unfavourable influence, calling the shots.
This nation will now go back to managing its own government's financial affairs like it previously did without fear or trembling.
America off-loaded Obama and has never looked back despite the gutsy Trump administration not afraid to upset the apple cart despite the bleeding heart do-gooder attempts to impeach him always a source of entertainment not only to him but others worldwide.
It's time for Australia to off-load the Paris agreement another drag on our economy, a waster of our taxpayers money that proves nothing other than to pacify the green vision and the UN pockets our country's revenue that could be better spent on our home front needs like the homeless on our streets.
To add further insult to injury we saw John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova publicly denouncing one of our most treasured tennis players because she quoted the biblical text.
Seems McEnroe is of the view of his right to insist that it has now become a case of "don't do what I did just do what I now say", the pot calling the kettle black.
From now on at future tennis events here let's use only our Aussie commentators.
We can do without these pip squeak knockers as they blow in and then leave our people upset by their comments.

YOU CAN HAVE ONE, BUT NOT ANOTHER
A short survey; what would you rather have?
- A fully government funded and equipped Rural Fire Service in NSW
- Or a new stadium in Sydney?
You can only pick one. Send your response to willoughby@parliament.nsw.gov.au.
