What a difference a day makes. Following three days of extreme heat, it all turned around last Sunday, resulting in 102 players turning out at the Griffith Golf Club to contest the Grady Painters Norm Saxvick Memorial Red Gum Plate qualifier.

The event, a 4 Ball Aggregate Stableford, saw the biggest field for a number of years contest for the 32 places to qualify for the matchplay.
Nick Vlassoff and Nick Van Luf combined to card 82 points to win the event of the day and be top qualifiers.
Phil Plunket and Trent Anderson finished second on 78 points.
In third place was David Kidd and Alf Franchi, 77 points, followed by Tom Watson and Ngara Maura Timotti. Brett Angel won the 7th pin.
Vouchers to 66 points on a countback.

Bill Alpen, 37 points, won A Grade, Gerry Cox, 35 points, second.
Steve Crowe, 36 points, was best in B Grade, Shane Gaffey, 35 points, runner-up.
Steve Lightfoot, 40 points, won C Grade, Graeme Trevett, 36 points, second.
Justin Robertson won the 4th pin; 7th Josh Stapleton; 11th Robin Salvestro; 16th Bryan Salvestro. Vouchers to 33 points.
The Volkswagon Scramble will be played this coming Sunday, February 9. A Four Person Ambrose with a 10am shotgun start. Nominate online or at the Pro Shop. Teams are asked to enter by Thursday, February 6 for catering purposes.
Today's event is a single stableford, Saturday a single stoke for the February monthly medal and Sunday the Volkswagon Scramble.
The extreme heat last Thursday saw only 19 veterans brave enough to contest a single stableford in one grade.
Lindsay Martyn, 35 points, won from Bill Carter 34 points.
John F. Gale won the 4th pin; Don Catanzariti 8th.
Jim Dickie, John Gale and Skeet Milne all won vouchers on 33 points.
Thursday's event is a medley single stableford.
A 4 BBB Stableford was played on Monday, January 27 and was won by Kierren Elvy and, Jack Draskovic, 51 points, Xavier Boucher and Tom Watson second on 49 points. Vouchers to 43 points.
Only 13 players in last Wednesday's Three Clubs and a putter day. The event was won by Robin Salvestro, 34 points, Leon Parr, 33 points, second on a countback.
