EDDIE KRAUSE ENTERS BURNING BUILDING
A lifelong fear of fire did not stop Eddie Krause from entering a home engulfed in flames on this day in 2015.
The 57-year-old was looking after his two grandsons when he noticed smoke coming from a home across the road, causing him to rush into action. Mr Krause struggled to breathe after entering the home and was later taken to hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation.
DOCTOR MISRA RUNS FOR POLITICAL SEAT
Doctor Atul Misra announced that he would stand as an independent candidate for the seat of Murray in the upcoming state election on this day in 2015.
The local pediatrician knows the medical industry inside and out, and said he was excited about the prospect of stepping into the unfamiliar territory of politics.

STEWART SPRY TAKES ON MOUNT PANORAMA
Griffith-born revhead Stewart Spry was told he will be taking part in the 12 Hours on the Mountain production race on this day in 2010.
Spry said he was fulfilling a lifelong goal by taking on the most famous 6.2 kilometres of racetrack in the world.
WAKADEN STREET SCHOOL ZONE UPGRADE
On this day in 2010, the Roads and Traffic Authority announced that flashing lights would be installed in the school zone surrounding Marian Catholic College and Griffith East Primary School.
The decision was made after persistent lobbying from council members and concerned parents.
PRESSURE BUILDS FOR IMPROVED SERVICES
Griffith's Better Mental Health Committee was founded by Toni Howard on this day in 2010.
The lack of mental health services in Griffith had received national attention in weeks prior, after comments were made by former local magistrate Jeff Hogg.
