The Swans side finished the regular season in fifth with eight wins and eight losses before they were knocked out in the elimination final with a five-goal defeat to Coolamon last season and coach Georgia Fuller said that result is driving them this season.
"I think going out in the first round of finals was a bit disappointing," she said.
"But when you look at the team we had, our centre (Jess Conlan) and goal attack (Jenna Richards) were both only 16.
"If you look at it like that, we are pretty happy, but we are also pretty competitive and don't like to lose."
The ladies started training before Christmas and Fuller is happy with how it has been progressing.
"We have had pretty good numbers to training which has been really pleasing," she said.
"We have been working on our fitness now to get into shape for the season rather than doing it in the middle of the season.
"Since we have mostly the same team as last year it will be building on what we have and learning to play as a unit because the girls should know how each other play."
The core of the team will be the same as last year with the handy addition of a former coach for a couple of games throughout the season.
"Bridgette Keely will be back for a couple of games this season which will be great," she said.
"We still have the same attacking end and mostly the same defence. There are a few new girls, so we will see where they fit in when trials roll around."
This season will be Fuller's second in charge after making the step into the coaching chair of her junior club last season.
"I really enjoyed last year with the Swans," she said.
"I have coached at representative level for a long time, but coaching seniors has been a good challenge.
"The club is really great and so are the girls, so it was an easy decision to make to stay on for a second year.
"I hated losing that final, so I want to get the girls back there again to go one better."
The Swans will get their season underway on Saturday, April 18 when they host Ganmain Grong Grong Matong at Exies Oval.
