Veteran of the Rural Fire Service, Kevin Adams, was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal for his lifetime of commitment on this day in 2015.
The Darlington Point local began humbly within the RFS, moving into a resource management role in the MIA after 20 years of service.
CITY CHAMBER SLAMS COUNCIL CASH SPLASH
Council faced a hostile business chamber on this day in 2015, after purchasing the iconic "clock" building on Banna Avenue for $900,000.
The purchase was labelled irresponsible and reckless by a number of local business owners, however, mayor John Dal Broi revealed that only one councillor voted against the acquisition.
TEN YEARS AGO
ORDER OF AUSTRALIA MEDAL FOR HARDING
Griffith veterinarian David Harding received one of Australia's top honours on this day in 2010.
Harding was awarded an Order of Australia Medal after four decades of dedicated service to the Riverina community and its creatures.
CLASH OVER MURRAY DARLING LIMITS
Two of Griffith's biggest water stakeholders were at loggerheads over impending changes to Murray-Darling Basin extraction limits on this day in 2010.
Murrumbidgee Irrigation and Riverina Citrus clashed over the MDBA review into the amount of water farmers could draw from the river system for irrigation.
