Two decades after debuting the fashion magazine, the mother from Griffith has inspired countless Australians, building an independently owned and operated media platform from the ground up.

"I do miss Griffith, there's always a sigh of relief when I return," Ms Torresan said.

"I love spending time with my beautiful family and friends, and I enjoy revisiting my favourite boutiques, restaurants and wineries.

"Griffith truly is an oasis in the outback and a place I enjoy promoting when I'm travelling for business."

Bernadette completed her tertiary studies in journalism, radio and TV production, launching GO (Griffith's Own) Magazine in her early 20s.

Since then, she has moved to the Border, building a new life for herself and raising a family.

"I love my life on the Border, it's my new hometown," Ms Torresan explained.

"It has provided me with opportunities and a lifestyle that allows me to enjoy city living in a rural setting."

Bernadette has been nominated for the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Award, the Telstra Women in Business Award, plus the AusMumpreneur Award in three categories.

Her achievements have solidified her place within the media hall of fame, as she overcame the hurdles of domestic violence, cervical cancer, divorce and workplace bullying to get where she is today.

"GO Local was created during a time when I had nothing more to lose and everything to gain," she said.

"I was broke, broken and my life was in pieces. I wanted to inspire others by writing positive stories about other people who had overcome adversity, just like me."

Bernadette says she always envisioned a career in print media, as she wanted to hold onto the tactile experience and create an escape from our current digital climate.

But it didn't come easy for the self-proclaimed introvert, who has built an incredible life for herself despite the cards that life dealt her.

"People see the glitz and the glamour of publishing and fashion shows, but what they aren't aware of is the incredible dedication and hard work it takes," Ms Torresan explained.

"You have to be resilient. There are always knock backs, rejections and failures. It's all part of the process."

Although Bernadette concedes nothing has come easy, she couldn't be more grateful.

"I've endured a lot throughout the years, and I inspire people because I have the ability to recover and rise each time," she said.

"This year, I plan to host events nationally, to inspire others with my story."
