The early bird gets the worm, driving both outfits to improve their off-season fitness and footwork months before their respective competitions begin.
"It'll be good to get back out there on the park with the fellas and get back in the swing of it," FC coach Ross Marando said.
"We've had a couple months off, so I think everyone is keen to go again and see what we can do this year."
Despite competition uncertainties looming for FC, the team continues to ready themselves for whatever lies ahead, as their bid to join Football Wagga awaits response.
"You've gotta get an early pre-season in and try to be ready for the season, wherever it takes us," Marando explained.
"Last year we just fell one hurdle short, so it's good to get back on the track after a couple months off."
On the other end of the hill at Collina, SC will be readying themselves for a new challenge.
Their bid to enter the Capital Football NPL2 competition was accepted late last year, providing a step-up in difficulty after securing four consecutive grand final victories in Griffith.
"I actually had to call tonight's session because the players were pushing to get started, so that makes me really happy and excited," SC coach Luke Santolin said.
"We can't wait for NPL2, it's such a new lease on life for everyone, the committee, the coaching staff, the players, we're all just chomping at the bit.
"It's going to be very tough, so the sooner we acclimatise the better and fitness is a really big part of that."
The pair of footballing rivals will not meet during any official matches in 2020, as separate competitions call their names for the first time in decades.
But that hasn't halted any rivalry, with both coaches intrigued by the prospect of sharing Ted Scobie Oval while other pitches are readied for the year ahead.
"We heard they're on the same oval so we might have to ask them for a bit of a rematch, no rules, call your own fouls," FC's Marando laughed.
"If we're playing YFC, we want there to be at least three referees," SC's Santolin responded amicably.
Minutes after the final whistle in last year's championship match, tempers flared and a brawl ensued, prompting security intervention and a referee's report.
"Really they've got an exciting journey coming up getting into NPL2, so we wish them all the best and hope they do well for Griffith," Marando said.
Yoogali SC will play their inaugural NPL2 match at home on April 26, with their first official training currently scheduled for February 4.
Yoogali FC remain in wait for a response from Football Wagga, with a decision expected to be made in the coming weeks.
