Art admirers, cultural connoisseurs, and avid aesthetes will gather at Griffith Regional Art Gallery on Friday to witness the launch of their 2020 exhibition calendar.

Only two weeks into the new year and the gallery's calendar is already looking to be a crammed one, according to gallery coordinator Ray Wholohan.
"We have an absolutely jam-packed, amazing, and highly accessible exhibition calendar this year," Mr Wholohan said, his eyes visibly bugging out with excitement.
"People will love it."
The theme of this year's program is "The Figure and the Face," and it will be launched at 6pm on Friday to give art enthusiasts a sneak peak at what the gallery will be getting up to in 2020.
The night will coincide with the gallery's first exhibition of the year, the Jacaranda Acquisitive, which throws a spotlight on some of the most talented drawers in Australia.
The exhibition features drawings a dizzyingly diverse range of styles, from masterfully crafted works of hyper-realism to the most boundary-pushing abstract artworks.
Another one of the upcoming exhibitions Mr Wholohan is particularly excited for is Art Express, which features the finest artwork from 2019 HSC art students.
"I always find that teenagers let go of their inhibitions and their artwork is often very bold, quite confronting at times - and always, open, honest, and candid," he said.
"They don't suffer from a lot of the hangups adults do, so a lot of their work can be very raw, very powerful, and very expressive."

Later in the year will be an exhibition highlighting the work of renowned artist Ken Done, who has a long and storied friendship with Griffith.
Then on International Women's Day the gallery will be hosting "Each for Equal", which will highlight local female artists from the Western Riverina region.
There's a whole lot more to come in 2020, and people can pick up copies of the program brochure any time during or after the gallery launch on January 17, 6pm.
Gallery manager Raina Savage said it would give art-lovers something to look forward to in 2020.
"It will be a great night out for lovers of Australian art," Ms Savage said.
