The NSW RFS has said dangerous conditions across the state, and a very high fire danger rating have led to the total fire ban for Friday, January 10.
In Griffith the temperature is forecast to top 45 degrees, with strong north-easterly and south-westerly winds gusting up to 25 kilometres an hour.
The fire ban is in effect for Griffith, Leeton, Carrathool, Hay, Narrandera and the northern parts of Murrumbidgee Council. A ban is also in place for the eastern Riverina, southern slopes and much of the South Coast.
No fires are permitted to be lit in the open, and all fire permits have been suspended.
No barbecues fueled by wood, charcoal or heat beads are allowed and general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be done outside.
Gas and electric barbecues can still be used provided there is a responsible adult supervising and a garden hose connected to a sustainable water source is nearby.
During very high fire danger days, the NSW RFS recommends residents review their bushfire plan and monitor local weather conditions.

People who spot unattended fires should report them to triple zero (000).
