At 9am on Sunday the Sikh temple put the call out for donations to help Aussies affected by bushfires, and with their combined efforts they managed to raise $10,000 by 3pm that afternoon.
Sikh temple president Parshotam Singh said the community had been deeply shocked to hear about the suffering going on across the state, which is why they were keen to help in any way they can.
"This is a hard time for Australia; these are some of the worst fires we've had and we feel for everybody in the community,' Mr Singh said.
"On behalf of the Sikh community we encourage everyone to donate as much as possible."
At the time of writing the Sikh community had raised $15,000 for bushfire victims, and they're planning to continue fundraising until they hit their target of $20,000.
They will also be driving a truckload of bottled water to some of the bushfire-ravaged communities that need it the most.

Mr Singh said the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak was a person who always gave everything he had to people in need, and that the Sikh community were always inspired to follow his example.
"Our Guru told us that when somebody is going through times of trouble, we should share what we have with them," Mr Singh said.
"We are all doing our best and giving as much as we can, even some of the people who have migrated here not so long ago."
