The man was waiting in Robb Park on the corner of MacArthur Street and Probert Avenue at 1.35am on Tuesday for a lift to work when he was approached by a man and told to give his money over.
The offender then drew a knife out of their right pocket and demanded the man's wallet, to which the man complied.
The thief then demanded the man go with him to a bank to withdraw more money before waving the knife at the man and telling him to stay put.
The man gave the offender everything in his backpack before running to a house adjacent to the park and seeking assistance.
